“A really tough place to come. We found a way to win, especially because the team played with a lot of personality and understood the game even better. When we made the changes even better it had a massive impact on the team. When the team can evolve like that in the match it becomes a team that can win in all circumstances.
On Raya’s save
“I thought that it was a goal. I went no please and then when I see that striker in that position it’s normally a goal It’s unbelievable.
On Nketiah’s future:
“At the moment Eddie is our player. He’s very committed to us. Regardless of the noise, he’s here and he’s committed being here. He’s really happy that we won the game.
On Gabriel Jesus’ injury:
“Unfortunately he felt something in his groin, We need to assess him, we need an MRI scan to see. We will have the results and see if it is a matter of days or weeks.
On keeping players happy when they are on the bench:
“The competition is huge, we have great players in each position & they’re going to have to accept that. We have a huge season ahead of us, a long one & you need players to impact it.
On new signings:
“We are a little bit short, if we can do something we will do it, We need good availability from everybody, we don’t have 23 outfield players and normally you have to be equipped like that. We know we’re not going to get there.”
“We have to trust some academy players & make sure that we look after the ones that we have to be robust & play a lot of minutes. So far looking good, I’m happy.
On subbing on Trossard:
“We had to change the momentum of the game. We had 10-12 minutes that we suffered in the second half & we had to change something. Leo has got the ability to change the game — his end product is unbelievable.
“I think he had two shots, two great balls in the box, that could have been another goal or two. That’s what you need, when it’s not enough with the start, there’s someone that has to come in & do the job.
